Electroliquid Aggregation/ inspirations/ reflection on a slide from the 'Black Box' lecture

Electroliquid Aggregation:

“From birth, man carries the weight of gravity on his shoulders and believes each other. He is refereed to bolt to earth with a lot of paper. But man has only to sink beneath the surface and he is free. “

Reflection on a slide from the 'Black Box' lecture:
"Shadow as repetition"

Ideas elaborates in this slide that is present in my design is the repetition of shadow and shapes. I have employed the concepts in several areas in the Jacques-yves Cousteau’s lab of my interior and the form of the lab. The interior of the lab, repetition of the cone and shadow is used to add narrative and link with the client and their quotes. By using repetition, this gives the viewers an insight to the thought of Cousteau. This also creates an atmosphere for the viewers to visualize and think of the hidden meaning of the quotes. This makes the space more dramatic and meaningful. Besides, repetition of cube is used in the form of the lab to create a feeling of gravity and weight which are mentioned in the quotes of Cousteau. The repetition of cube represents the long way to discover the meaning of life and search for life. Thus, repetition of shadows and shapes gives meaning to the architecture and makes the work more dramatic.

Developed sketchup model

Material choice:

Glass with pattern on it and Concrete coloured in white are the main material I have used in the Art gallery for two artists, Fiona Hall and Tracey Moffat. Hall and Moffat both concerned with social, political and cultural issues that related to the society. Both artists’ uses material and media as a metaphor in many of her artworks. They want the viewer to think and reflect on the viewer’s social and environmental responsibility towards the world. Therefore, they emphasis on the viewer's thoughts and feelings. Glass is a good material that gives a harmonic relationship between the artist, the artwork, the building, the environment and the society, unifying all the elements of the city. Natural Sunlight gives warmth to the people who stay inside, and provides natural light and shadow to the artwork which allows the viewer to have different perspective at different period of time. Besides, the glass reveals a reflection of a cloud, sky and people when they walk by and the tall, industrial building of the city. I chose white concrete because white is a feminine colour and symbolize purity and unique. White is the best colour to describe Hall and Moffat’s artwork.

Artists work in their workshop

Fiona Hall's artwork and workshop
Hall is a sculpture contemporary artist. Most of her artwork are huge in size and bulk which needs more exhibition space to present her work. More walking spaces around the artwork allows the viewer to look closely to the artwork and seek for the hidden meaning of her work. Therefore, I have left more space and provided the viewer a quiet environment for them to pause and reflect their behaviour in the contemporary world.

Tracey Moffat's artwork and workshop
Most of Moffat's artwork are series of photography. I placed her artwork in a long and thin corridor in a zigzag shape allowing the viewer to follow her series of photography easily and would able to link them together.
